Globelynx, the broadcast solutions provider that connects expert commentators to broadcasters, has appointed John Holliday to the newly created role of Commercial Operations Director.
John, who will start the new role in November, joins Globelynx from Bloomberg, where he was Head of Newsgathering and Digital. Prior to this he spent five years at Sky News, where he helped launch Eamonn Holmes’ Sunrise show, a multimedia business unit and programme edited at Sky News Ireland. John has also held roles at the BBC and ITV.
Leading Globelynx’s commercial activities, John will be responsible for driving the future growth of the camera network, broadening the range of experts available for interview and forging closer working relationships with camera users and broadcasters.
John joins the business as it enters its next phase of development by evolving to deliver many of its services via a cloud-based technology, making it more cost effective for broadcasters to access live interviews, particularly outside of the UK. For instance, Globelynx recently connected Sir Richard Branson with broadcasters worldwide by installing one of its camera systems on his NeckerIsland home.
David FitzGerald, Globelynx’s Managing Director, said: “Our broadcast solutions business has grown in size and developed significantly since our acquisition by PA Group nearly three years ago. By creating the new role of Commercial Operations Director, and recruiting a person of John’s considerable broadcast and business expertise, we are now even better positioned to drive the company forward and maximise the many opportunities in both the media sector and an increasingly broader range of non-media organisations.”
John Holliday said: “This is a great opportunity for me. As competition for audience attention, trust and understanding of news stories becomes fiercer, we must find more effective ways to join sharp expert analysis with broadcasters, across all markets and platforms. I believe Globelynx is well-placed to take on this challenge.”
Globelynx provides broadcasting solutions for many major clients including 80+ universities and business schools, corporate companies, media organisations and financial institutions across Europe and beyond, facilitating hundreds of live interviews per month through its network in approximately 30 countries.
