PA appoints Ravender Sembhy as City Editor
24 March 2016: Ravender Sembhy has been appointed City Editor at PA (the Press Association), the UK’s leading multimedia news agency.
He joins PA from City AM, and has also held senior editorial roles on the business desks of the International Business Times and the Sunday Express. Ravender takes up his new role on 18 April 2016.
Ravender’s appointment reflects PA’s commitment to providing its customers with a wide range of high-quality, multi-media City and Financial content. Ravender will oversee the agency’s City team, and its output on the main news wire, digital channels and Snappa, PA’s alternative news service.
He will also work closely with senior editorial colleagues, PA’s product development team and customers to develop new products and services to showcase PA’s compelling content.
PA Editor-in-Chief Pete Clifton said: “City coverage is a vital part of the PA’s service, and it is fantastic to have someone with Ravender’s proven pedigree leading the team.”
Ravender’s appointment marks a return to PA, having worked at the agency as a financial reporter between 2007 and 2010. Since then he has worked as Deputy Editor for Healthcare Market News, Deputy City Editor at the Sunday Express, and most recently, as News Editor at City AM, London’s free daily business newspaper.
He said: “I’m delighted to be returning to such a prestigious organisation with an unrivalled reputation in the world of journalism. The City, the economy and business are frequently at the very top of the news agenda, and I aim to build on PA’s already excellent coverage as City Editor.”
