PA’s Jonathan Grun honoured at The Press Awards 2014
London 11th March, 2015: Jonathan Grun, former Editor-in-Chief and current Emeritus Editor of PA News, has been recognised by the media industry at The Press Awards 2014 for his record service to UK journalism. He has worked at the Press Association (PA), the UK’s leading multimedia news agency and digital content provider, for thirty-six years.
Bob Satchwell, Chairman of the Judges and Executive Director of the Society of Editors said: “The Chairman’s Award recognises the enormous contribution Jonathan Grun has made to UK journalism and the difference he has made without fuss from behind the scenes to the life of the nation. Jonathan is uniquely respected and valued in all parts of the media that are served by the Press Association for his exceptional professional and personal qualities.”

Jonathan added: “I feel personally honoured to receive the award but this is also recognition of the Press Association’s vital role at the heart of the media industry and it is an honour from the Society of Editors, which campaigns tirelessly for freedom of expression.”
Jonathan joined the news agency as a general news reporter in 1979 and became the Press Association’s Editor in 2000. Jonathan is also on the committee for IPSO’s Editors’ Code of Practice as well as a member and twice past President of the Society of Editors.
The Society of Editors Press Awards 2014 is Britain’s premier awards celebrating the best of UK national newspaper journalism. The awards recognise reporters and correspondents, commentators, columnists and cartoonists, designers, photographers, scoops and campaigns. The prestigious event was attended by more than 4000 editors and journalists.
Three PA photographers Ben Birchall, Owen Humphreys and Stefan Rousseau were also shortlisted for ‘Photographer of the Year’, as well as Martin Rickett, for ‘Sports Photographer of the Year’ at the awards. Ben, Stefan and Martin were highly commended on the night.
The winners were announced at a glittering gala dinner at the Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square in London on Tuesday 10 March 2015.
